Don't be mistaken. Offline MLM and online MLM are two different things. I used to do conventional offline MLM before ... and I know.
With Offline MLM ... I Got Tired and I Quit
I just graduated from college when I joined my first MLM. At first it seemed like a shortcut to my financial freedom. I could see myself being young and rich in just a year - having the time of my life, with cool cars and a nice, big double-story mansion on a very beautiful sandy beach.
Life will be fun and colorful. I don't have to worry about money anymore.
But reality surely bites.
I came to my senses and slowly realized that conventional, old-school MLM business was hard.
I had to meet people, do presentations, do cold-calls and take dreadful rejections right in my face ... Urgh ... Rejections ... I Hate Them So Much!
Not to mention the amount of money that I was forking out for my monthly product purchases. I also had to pay my gas (we call it petrol in Malaysia) for my beat-up old car to go out to meet people. It had never been earlier than 11pm that I got home... almost everyday. And it was most tiring when I got a "No" from a prospect.
All the time, money and effort ... wasted.
I soon understood... I lack the "human skills" and it's the kind of skills that's taking me too long to acquire. Frustrations and rejections were getting into my skin much quicker.
I was about to lose hopes.
And at about the same time, I got started with the Internet. I build websites and made money with affiliate programs and Adsense. And I also build my own email list and promoted other products. And the Internet seemed to be giving me more money than my MLM business.
The next logical thing was obvious...
I dropped my MLM business. And I started to focus on my Internet business. And things took off from there.
But that does not mean that MLM does not work ...
The company that I quit from is still going strong. In fact there are venturing into new countries as well. That only proves how powerful and effective MLMs are.
Deep down in my heart, I still believe in the power of MLM.
I like the idea of leveraging your time and effort to produce greater results. From reading and my own observation, I understand that successful people never fail to use leverage to create their own wealth. In fact, they can't create or sustain their wealth without having some form of leverage in their business.
In MLM, you build a team of business partners and mutually help each other. As your team grows, your business keeps on growing as well. Given time, your MLM business will grow so big that it seems that it has its own life – you can't help but to succeed then.
And here's another thing that I like about MLM. I like the fact that you are building a passive income. MLM gives you the opportunity to earn over and over and over ... it's recurring, it's residual.
Now, tell me if getting a growing check every month from the work you did right once is a bad idea.
Though I left my MLM business and pursued my online business three years ago, MLM never really left me.
And the best part is... MLM has evolved so much that it would be a mistake not to look into this business model one more time.
